Iconic Image: Mick Jagger In 1973

Even if you didn’t live through the 1960s and ’70s, it only takes one glance at this incredible photograph of rock legend Mick Jagger to feel swept up in the era. Not many men could pull off the sort of look Jagger did, at least not with as much confident swagger.

At first impression, the outfit here is basic enough: a chambray-color shirt, cuffed khaki pants. But gaze deeper and the frontman’s singular flair really starts to make itself apparent via the ’70s bell-bottoms, the saddle shoes and of course the slightly anachronistic, deeply brimmed hat. It’s inspiring to see a man really bring it with his style like Jagger. 1973 was a chaotic, watershed year in The Rolling Stones history but you’d never know it by looking at the expression of solemn calm in this photograph.
